Agriculture Symposium

Agriculture-Forum-3

Theme: Developing a shared vision towards increasing Agricultural Exports

To respond to these opportunities and market leads, Saint Lucia’s Agriculture must employ best practices, adhere to stringent market requirements and compete with stiff / aggressive regional /extra regional and international counterparts. To achieve this, a concerted effort must be made to involve/include the major collaborators who form the agricultural export chain. The grouping will collectively develop a shared vision / strategy to access and expand in priority export markets.

Towards this end, TEPA in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Land, Forestry, Fisheries and Rural Development will host a symposium that will seek to review, assess and establish a sustained strategic approach to increase the aggregate exports of Saint Lucian agricultural commodities.

The Objectives of the Symposium are:

  • To identify common, critical issues that have been encountered in agricultural export particularly in nontraditional commodities and suggest creative approaches to solving them
  • To develop / set priorities as It pertains to the export of commodities
  • To identify and target a number of crops for strategic export markets
  • To establish a multi stakeholder team (consisting private and public sector) to chart the way forward for the export of strategic crops.

The Symposium takes place on Wednesday February 04, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Golden Palm Conference Room, Events Centre (former A.F. Valmont building behind Super J), Rodney Bay.
